Midesi yemek borusundan bile küçük hale gelen Kerpiçci, kilo verdikten sonra, yüksek şeker ve hipertansiyon gibi sağlık sorunlarından da kurtuldu. Kerpiçci, hedefinin 75 kiloya düşmek olduğunu belirterek, ''Diyet yapıyordum. 1 yılda 20 kilo veriyordum. Ancak diyeti bozar bozmaz verdiğim 20 kiloyu bir kaç ay içerisinde fazlasıyla alıyordum'' dedi. Şişmanken en çok, kendisine uygun elbise bulmakta zorlandığını anlatan Kerpiçci, ''Bedenime uygun giysi bulamıyordum. Genelde Amerikan alışveriş sitelerinden kendime uygun elbise alıyordum. Artık istediğim yerden alışveriş yapabiliyorum. En güzeli ise 36 beden kot alıp 'Bu büyük geldi, 34 bedeni var mı?' diye sorabilmek. Nişanlım ile Eylül ayında evleneceğim. Kiloluyken damatlığımı özel diktireceğim için üzülüyordum. Şimdi en çok damatlığımı istediğim mağazadan alabileceğim için seviniyorum'' diye konuştu. Ekstrem sporları çok sevdiğini belirten Altu Kemal Kerpiçci, ''Su altı dalışı, snowboard ve off-road yapıyordum. Motor sporlarına da düşkündüm. Ancak kiloluyken bu sporları yapamaz hale geldim. Zayıflamak istememin en büyük nedenleri de bu tür çılgınlıklara düşkün olmamdır. 2 ay önce yıllar sonra yeniden dalış yapmanın keyfini yaşadım'' dedi. Tüp mide ameliyatı olmadan önce sabah kahvaltısında 5 poğaça yediğini anlatan Kerpiçci, ''Artık işe giderken sabahları 1 poğaça alıyorum ve onu akşama kadar zor bitirebiliyorum.
